Horse Owners = Big Spenders

If this report is accurate, then horse showing generates a $28.8 billion effect on the GDP. That's just horse showing, not racing. The horse community is severely underserved then, in my opinion. Where's the media coverage of horse events, for instance?! I don't see any big industry trying to take advantage of that market, with the exception of existing structures (i.e. speciality tack shops, horse buyers/sellers). This should translate into more tv coverage, better national team support for big riding events (in all disciplines) and more sponsorship and advertising opportunities for equestrians at all levels. But instead we'll be lucky if they squeeze in 10 min of showjumping on the tv in between endless hours of golf, water volleyball, bull-riding....need I go on?
